Valentino Garavani began his designing career in Paris working for Jean Desses and Guy Laroche, and moved to Rome and launched his own design house in 1960.   He debuted his signature V logo in 1967, the same year that he received the Neiman Marcus Prize, and shortly thereafter designed the wedding dress for possibly the decade's most notable wedding - Jacqueline Kennedy's marriage to Aristotle Onassis.

Garavani's signature color is red, and his designs celebrate glamor and luxury.  He is without dispute the most prominent designer in Rome, and his collections have been featured in museum exhibits around the world.   Garavani has received the Cavaliere di Gran Croce from the President of Italy and the Legion D'Honneur from the President of France - the highest decoration each country bestows on a civilian.
