Dante Trussardi founded the Trussardi design house in 1911, as a glovemaker. In the 1970s, under the leadership of Nicola (Dante's nephew) and Marialuisa Trussardi, the company branched out widely in accessories and developed the greyhound logo still used today.
In 1983, Trussardi released its first clothing line. In 1987, Trussardi was chosen to design the leisure wear for the 1988 Italian Olympic teams. The company is currently run by Nicola and Marialuisa's daughter Beatrice Trussardi.
