Todd Oldham was born in Texas in 1961. He had no formal training in design when he showed his first collection in 1981. He moved to New York to design in 1988, introducing his Times 7 line that year and his signature line the next year.
He rapidly expanded into footwear and accessories. Oldham won the Perry Ellis New Fashion Talent Award from the Council of Fashion Designers in 1992. He became a regular contributor to MTV's House of Style.
Oldham is known for unexpected combinations, and his designs feature his sense of fun and wit, often with ornamentation such as embroidery or patchwork.
Oldham has expanded his work to include home decor and interior design, and is now the host of Bravo's Top Design.
