"My ideas are all from pictures I have in my head from 15th and 16th century books." Romeo Gigli
Romeo Gigli was born and raised in Italy and studied architecture. He moved to New York in 1978 and worked there for a year as a designer before returning to Italy. He designed for others until opening his own line in 1983.
Gigli gained immediate attention for his heavily draped and asymmetrical designs, which closely followed the female form. Gigli soon expanded into menswear, accessories, and fragrances. He started his G. Gigli line in 1992. He has collaborated with Ermenegildo Zegna on menswear for over two decades.
