"I build a collection around a place and its sense of history, and then update the references using technology, fabrics, and cut." Kean Etro
Gimmo Etro founded his textile house in 1968, providing fabrics to Italy's top designers. Paisleys became their characteristic in 1981, and they are known for bright colors and intricate prints. The brand expanded to accessories in the 1980s, and ready-to-wear clothing at the end of that decade, with their first runway show coming in 1994.
His daughter Veronica Etro is in charge of womenswear, and his son Kean Etro is in charge of menswear. His other two sons, Jacobo Etro and Ippoliti Etro, are also deeply involved in the business, with Jacobo in charge of textiles and Ippoliti being the chief financial officer.
