Tory Burch was born into Pennsylvania high society in 1966. After graduating from the University of Pennsylvania, she moved to New York City and began working in the fashion world, including for Harper's Bazaar magazine, and for Vera Wang.
In 2004, Burch launched her fashion line, and was rapidly successful. She was endorsed on the Oprah Winfrey Show in April 2005. Burch's style is a mix of preppy and bohemian, and her clothes are a mainstay on the TV show Gossip Girl.
Burch won the Accessories Designer of the Year Award from the Council of Fashion Designers of America in 2008.
